The "Agios Loukas" Clinic on the side of the athletes

With free rapid tests for SARS-Cov 2 detection to all athletes of the EAK, every week we stand by the children and support the federation in one of the most difficult periods of the last few years.

A few words about the EEAAC

The Greek Federation of Deaf Sports (E.O.A.K.) was founded in 1988 and is a secondary sports federation for the Deaf, which has been officially recognized by the Greek State. With 1,200 active athletes and members, the E.O.A.K. has 9 sports clubs - members throughout Greece.

E.O.A.K. is a member of I.C.S.D. ("International Committee of Sports for the Deaf" - International Committee of Sports for the Deaf) and E.D.S.O. ("European Deaf Sports Organization" - European Deaf Sports Organization).

There is a widespread misconception that the Olympic Games consist of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. In reality, however, the Olympic Games are divided into 3 categories, which are equal to each other and have the same value.

ICSD's work has been presented worldwide as an autonomous governmental body since the beginning of the 20th century. The Deaflympics were first held in 1924 in Paris. The first Paralympic Games were held in 1960 in Rome.

The Deaflympics are held every 4 years, following the Olympics and the

Paralympic Games. They are also recognized by the Olympic Committee and are held under the supervision of the ICSD.

It is logical that deaf athletes, firstly because of their physical

ability and secondly, due to their communication disability, they cannot participate in either the Olympic or Paralympic Games.

With regard to the ICSD Regulations, participation in any sporting event is limited to persons who:

" is Deaf, defined as a hearing loss of at least 55Db. in the best ear (average of three tones at 500, 1,000 and 2,000 Hertz 150, a measure of 1964.

- All competitors will not wear hearing aids during the race.

- Only athletes who meet the requirements of the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) hearing regulations and who have been screened by the ICSD, and who are on the official list of International Athletes, will be allowed to participate in sporting events."

The Hellenic Federation of Deaf Sports is involved in the following sports, competing and occupying positions that make all of Greece proud:

  • Football
  • Basketball Men & Women
  • Athletics
  • Perverted Road
  • Swimming
  • Shooting
