Our medical and nursing staff members are always willing and available to deal promptly and effectively with all paediatric cases, 24 hours a day. It is worth choosing the Paediatrics Department of St. Luke's Hospital for all kinds of medical cases.
The Paediatrics Department of St. Luke's Hospital is the natural and integral continuation of the Obstetrics and Neonatology Department of the Hospital, which have been operating for many years and have been recognized in the society of Northern Greece for the European level services they offer.
The Paediatrics Department is housed in a newly built, independent wing of the Hospital, with direct access to the underground parking space. The rooms of the department are single and double, with excellent hotel support. The department also has a playroom, an area specially designed for young children, in an effort to entertain and divert our young patients.
The department consists of excellent and experienced nursing and medical staff members who cover the entire range of childhood diseases, with doctors of all specialties related to childhood, such as:
• Paediatric surgeons
• ENT doctors

• Paediatric ophthalmologists
• Paediatric gastroenterologists

The nursing and medical staff member of the Paediatrics department are always available to inform both parents and family paediatricians of young patients about the course of the disease, in an atmosphere of mutual trust.
The paediatrics department of St. Luke's Hospital has a capacity of twenty-two (22) beds. The Hospital has recently renovated of the Paediatrics Department. Both the hospital rooms and the common areas of the department were decorated with vivid colors and kids wall murals, so that hospitalised children feel as comfortable and familiar as possible.
In the new playroom of the department, children can play with special wooden constructions, paint, watch movies or children's series on TV, play games on tablets or surf the internet.
The Paediatrics Department provides round-the-clock emergency care, with the presence of a paediatrician on duty, 24 hours a day. During the morning hours you can visit the regular outpatient Paediatrics department. The department is supported by the Laboratories of the Hospital on a round-the-clock basis. For the better treatment of our young patients, we have at our disposal the laboratories of the Hospital:

Respiratory infections
The cases that are usually hospitalised concern – mainly during the winter months – respiratory infections, such as:
• Pneumonia-pleurisy
• Bronchial asthma attacks
• Bronchiolitis
• Ear infections
• Lymphadenitis
Acute and chronic abdominal pain
Almost all year round we face cases with acute, chronic abdominal pain that some of them develop into acute gastroenteritis with a risk of dehydration, while others develop into acute appendicitis or some other paediatric surgery problem.
Allergic reactions
Allergic reactions are a common paediatric problem and unfortunately, in some cases, very dangerous for the health of our young patients. Allergic reactions involve simple - extensive urticaria rashes up to and including anaphylactic shock.
Haematological cases
Our department treats children with diseases such as idiopathic throbocytopenic purpura - leukopenia - neutropenia, children with autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, Kawasaki syndrome, Henoch Schonlein purpura, etc.
Skin infections
We treat all kinds of skin infections, including the most common ones - especially during the summer months - such as impetigo and cellulitis, but also more serious ones, such as staphylococcal toxic epidermolysis.
Paediatric neurology cases
The paediatric neurological cases concern convulsions, whether they are feverish or untreated, epilepsy seizures, meningitis (usually viral) etc.
"I started working at St. Luke's Hospital in June 2014. It was an honour for me the proposal that was made to me at the time to take over the responsibility of the Paediatrics Department from the Hospital Management and I feel very responsible for this whole project.
There is proper organisation, quick treatment of cases and good coordination between all paediatricians and neonatologists.
The nursing staff is highly experienced and treats our young patients in a manner appropriate to their age.
Trying to improve the hospitalisation conditions of our young patients, the facilities of the department were renovated. Thus, the Paediatrics Department became more child-friendly, with the renovation of the playroom, the rooms and the common areas. When our young patients visit the department and its playroom, they want to stay there..."
