George Drossos, a cardiac surgeon, was born in Kavala and graduated from the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He was trained in General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery in Athens and Thessaloniki. After completing his residency he worked for 2 years in England and in 1993 he was awarded a doctorate from the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He was elected Assistant Professor and promoted to Associate Professor and Director of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Ioannina, where he worked for 7 years. In 2006 he became Coordinator - Director of the Cardiac Surgery Clinic of Papanikolaou Hospital. Since January 2023 he has been working at the St. Luke's Clinic. 

In his long career, he has performed more than 4,500 adult open heart procedures as the surgeon in charge. This number includes the full spectrum of coronary surgery, heart valve surgery, thoracic aortic aneurysms, cardiac tumors, and various other clinical entities. The results of his surgeries have been published many times, posted on the internet and are comparable and comparable to those of international scientific societies.

In addition to the clinical work, Cardiothoracic Surgeon C. Drossos has also performed experimental studies in laboratories of the Universities of Ioannina and Thessaloniki with published papers in international journals. 

His authorship includes 60 publications in PubMed and 750 bibliographic references.

He is married to cardiologist Persephone Kontogiorgis and has two children, Evangelos and Odysseus, who live and work in the United Kingdom. 

He is a "fan" of football and the Thessaloniki State Orchestra.
