Short CV

After my graduation from Anatolia College in Thessaloniki in 1988, I was accepted at the University of Medical School of Gothenburg in Sweden, starting my studies in the same year. After completing them in 1995, I built my farm in the UK.

In 1999 I started my research collaboration with the plastic surgery research group that had performed the first hand transplant in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. At the same time, I was intensively preparing for the USMLE of America qualifying examination. I was admitted to Vanderbilt University and the University of Colorado, where I trained as a general surgeon.

I returned to Europe, to Sweden, in 2006 and specialised in bariatric and laparoscopic surgery under Dr. Dag Arvidsson, the innovative surgeon who introduced and developed the laparoscopic technique in Scandinavia. Already in 2006, together with Dr. Dag Arvidsson, we were the first to perform sleeve gastrectomy (or elongated gastrectomy) in Scandinavia, as well as the first to perform bariatric surgery for body mass index 30-35 (type I obesity), with great success in both cases.

Since 2006 until now, I have participated in many international and European conferences, where I have presented my research work in the form of articles and publications. The above mentioned papers have also been published in reputed surgical journals and have led to a medicine licentiate degree in collaboration with Uppsala University in Sweden. Equally important, I have worked with the largest bariatric and laparoscopic centres in Sweden and Norway, having enriched my experience with a large and varied number of procedures.

Bariatric and laparoscopic interventions are of great interest because they allow the cure of the disease that concerns the patient with a minimally invasive technique, while at the same time they require from the surgeon a great deal of experience, as well as maximum attention and dedication in the handling and execution of the operation, in order to achieve the best possible result.
