Stratus

Stratou Athina, MD, MSc, cPhD, originally from Arta, graduated from the Medical School of the University of Ioannina with the degree ''Very Good'' in 2012. 

Her scientific training began immediately after graduation, with the provision of services as a rural doctor at the Agnanton Hospital and her subsequent secondment as a doctor of the Neurosurgery Department at the General Hospital of Arta, until August 2013.

From September 2013 to August 2016, he undertook three years of duties and training at the Department of General Surgery of the University Hospital of Ioannina. 

From October 2016 to December 2022, she specialized in Thoracic Heart Surgery, initially at the University General Hospital of Ioannina and later at the General Hospital of Papanicolaou.  

During this time, she served in the departments initially as a resident until November 2021, and after successfully passing the residency exams, as Assistant Thoracic Heart Surgeon.

She has performed over 800 procedures, major or minor, including the entire spectrum of coronary surgery, heart valve surgery, thoracic aortic aneurysms, cardiac tumors and various other clinical entities under the scope of Thoracic Surgery.

The doctor holds a Master's degree (MSc.) with a grade of "A", whose experimental work is entitled: "Plasma osmolality and Average Platelet Volume as factors of morbidity and mortality in cardiac surgery patients", was presented and awarded at the ^11th Panhellenic Congress on Thrombosis - Antithrombotic Treatment.

As a PhD candidate at the University of Ioannina, she continues her academic research in the context of her thesis entitled: "Observational study and recording of the effect of metabolic syndrome on the outcome of patients undergoing aorto-coronary bypass" .

Throughout her professional career as a surgeon, she has participated in numerous conferences and educational seminars, sometimes as a guest speaker and sometimes as a trainer.
