Dimitrios I. Argyrakis is an Orthopaedic Surgeon-Sport Physician, and has been working with the clinic Agios Loukas since July 2023.
His areas of specialization are arthroscopic surgery of all shoulder and knee injuries, surgical treatment of patellar instability, surgical treatment of fractures, treatment of sports injuries and treatment of osteoarthritis in the joints of the shoulder, hip and knee.
He was born in 1982 and grew up in Thessaloniki. He graduated from the 24th General High School and was admitted to the Medical School of the University of Ioannina in 2000 after the Panhellenic Examination. He obtained his medical degree in October 2006 with a grade of "very good" (7.96).
From September 2007 and for one year, he trained as a salaried resident at the Orthopaedic Clinic of Mälarsjukhuset Hospital in Eskilstuna, Sweden. In September 2008, he transferred to the Orthopaedic Clinic at Akademiska University Hospital in Uppsala, Sweden, where he received his Specialist Certificate in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology in November 2012.
Since 2012, he has worked continuously as an attending surgeon at the Department of Shoulder and Knee Surgery at the same hospital. In 2019, he trained as a clinical fellow alongside renowned orthopaedic surgeons in prestigious international centres, Dr. David Dejour in Lyon, France, and Dr. Andy Williams in London, UK. In addition, in 2019 he completed the two-year postgraduate program in Sports Medicine of the International Olympic Committee (IOC Sports Medicine) after passing an examination.
In 2017 he became Medical Director of the Regular Outpatient Clinics at the Orthopaedic Clinic of Akademiska University Hospital and in January 2021 he took up the position of Director of the Department of Shoulder and Knee Surgery at the Orthopaedic Clinic of Akademiska University Hospital in Uppsala, Sweden. He held these positions until June 2023, when he returned to Greece.
He has participated and successfully completed international clinical courses such as ESSKA European Certification on ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) surgery, AO Recon Course, London Osteotomy Masterclass and AO TRAUMA courses. He is also a member of Medical and Scientific Societies, regularly participating in European and International Conferences, staying up to date with the latest therapeutic methods and surgical techniques.
From July 2023, it will have an exclusive partnership with St. Luke's Hospital in Thessaloniki. At the same time, he maintains the private clinic ARTHROMOVE in the area of Kalamaria in Thessaloniki, which provides personalized orthopedic services, tailored to the needs, requirements and specifications of each patient.

He is a PhD candidate at the Department of Surgical Sciences, Uppsala University, under the guidance of Professors Nils Hailer and Nikos Schizas. His research interest focuses on Bone Biology and the use of Bio-materials for the prevention and treatment of infections and septic conditions associated with orthopaedic surgery. Results of his research have been presented in internationally renowned orthopaedic conferences (EFORT 2022, ISAKOS 2021, EORS 2020)
