Orthopaedics
Why choose us?

The Orthopaedics Department is one of the first departments of St. Luke's Hospital. During its operation, the Hospital had the privilege to include in its staff some of the top doctors of Thessaloniki and Northern Greece. After 45 years of experience and having performed countless orthopaedic surgeries, we could say that the success of the Orthopaedics department is based on four factors:

Special orthopaedics departments

Department and human resources

In the Orthopaedics Department of St. Luke's Hospital, you will receive specialised care from specialist orthopaedic surgeons with extensive experience, profound knowledge and modern training. In our Hospital there are special departments of orthopaedic surgery. Each individual department is staffed with specialised surgeons and therapists, with the sole aim of treating patients with diseases and problems of the musculoskeletal system.

Modern equipment

Diagnostically, the Hospital has a state-of-the-art MRI and CT scanner, which offer valuable assistance in the diagnosis of diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system. Therapeutically, five modern fluoroscopic machines (C-arm), including a small one (mini C-arm), help orthopaedic surgeons to perform complex surgeries with great accuracy and in the best possible way. Modern arthroscopic equipment, state-of-the-art surgical instruments and implantable materials are used, on a daily basis, by the Hospital doctors, achieving excellent postoperative results. Our Hospital has also five state-of-the-art surgical microscopes used in microsurgery and spine procedures. In addition, state-of-the-art operating rooms, with a vertical air flow system, reduce the risk of surgical infections to a minimum.

The department's philosophy

The department focuses on the patient as a human. Our goal is not only to treat the orthopaedic problem, but also to relieve the patient from the stress and insecurity created by any disease.

«... for the benefit of the sick..."

Doctors, nurses and therapists are constantly next to patients, trying all together, as a team, to give the best possible solution to their problems.

At the forefront of science

At St. Luke's Hospital, our doctors performed arthroscopy procedures for the first time in Northern Greece. In the beginning, these procedures concerned only the knee, and later other joints as well. Initially, they were performed for diagnostic purposes but, then, they were also applied therapeutically to the knee joint. Today, in all special orthopaedics departments, innovative operations are performed, such as:
