The Ophthalmology Department of St. Luke's Hospital deals with the entire range of eye and eyelid diseases.

The department's philosophy

The aim of the people of the department is to maintain or improve patients' vision, following individualised means and practices. Thus, we evaluate and treat the patients holistically, always with priority to their particular needs and desires.

Age range and diseases we face

The department treats diseases of infancy and childhood (e.g. myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, strabismus, lacrimal duct obstructions), as well as adult and elderly diseases (e.g. cataracts, glaucoma, presbyopia, diabetic retinopathy, detachment).

Surgeries and modern ophthalmological procedures

In the operating rooms of the Hospital, all kinds of operations are performed with modern ultrasound and LASER machines, such as:

• Cataract surgery with a small incision
• Glaucoma surgery
• Retinal detachment surgery
• Vitrectomy

Each operation is performed by a specialised ophthalmologist.
