The department of the clinic aims at the personal and anthropocentric approach of children and adolescents. It provides up-to-date therapeutic methods, in accordance with European standards. The specially trained nursing staff, combined with the modern facilities, ensure quality care, in a pleasant environment.
The endocrine system is a complex, finely balanced arrangement of hormonal feedback circuits, designed to coordinate many bodily functions. This system works through hormones – chemicals – which are produced by the endocrine glands and travel through tissues, carrying messages. Pediatric endocrinology is the specialization of pediatrics in diseases of the endocrine glands, the hormones they produce, as well as system disorders. It deals from birth until the completion of the patient's adolescence. It is perhaps the most holistic subspecialty of Pediatrics, as it deals with problems of growth, maturation, metabolism, puberty, weight, nutrition, height and many others.
Children are not small adults. Endocrine gland diseases in children and adolescents are quite different from those in adults. Therefore, they must be treated by qualified professionals who will take care not only of endocrine problems, but also of the psychosocial needs of the child.
